Jordon Veira, affectionately known as JV, was a passionate advocate for learning, healing, and social justice from a young age. His remarkable journey began as a student, where he confronted the harsh realities of anti-blackness, grappled with complex issues of masculinity, mental health, and struggled with low self-esteem. These early experiences planted the seeds of a profound mission that would shape his life's work - to use his artistry and lived experiences to provoke change and advocate for society's most marginalized groups.
JV's impact was nothing short of transformative. His art and personal narrative touched the lives of over 1 million individuals through television appearances, radio broadcasts, and electrifying live speaking engagements and performances. He possessed the rare ability to captivate and inspire audiences with his powerful words and authentic storytelling.
In 2011, JV co-founded The HEARD, an arts and equity organization that would become his enduring legacy. Alongside a dedicated group of young artists, he created a vibrant stage for local talent and ignited countless movements within his city. Drawing inspiration from his mother's path as a motivational speaker, JV continued in her footsteps, motivating and inspiring students to become better versions of themselves.
JV's life was tragically cut short in 2019, but his indomitable spirit lives on through The HEARD Edu, an organization dedicated to continuing the work he started. His legacy is a beacon of hope and empowerment, reminding us all of the potential for positive change when creativity, resilience, and a deep commitment to social justice converge.
